Would taking fiber supplements be just as effective for losing weight as taking a colon cleanser?

The answer is yes--and that means that NEITHER ONE is effective for weight loss.
Colon cleanse is basically just a laxative. You clean out what's in there, but the next day your body makes more waste. It doesn't do anything ELSE--it doesn't promote weight loss. It only makes you have a bowel movement faster, harder and more often until your colon is empty. Then, as soon as you eat, you will have more waste material in your colon.
Fiber supplements do the same things. They make your bowels work better, you have more and bigger and faster bowel movements.
If you want to lose weight, laxatives are not recommended. Any weight loss is VERY temporary--lasts only until you eat again--and they can cause dehydration. (Fiber supplements WON'T cause this.)
For real weight loss, eat fewer calories, less fat and sugar and more vegetables. Exercise more. It's really simple, and it doesn't cause problems.
