Would it look tacky if I put a Chifferobe on one side of my bed and a dresser/drawer on the other side?

I take care of my mom in a 1 bedroom apartment so I'm using the laundry room as my bedroom which means no closet. And because it's off to the side of the living room with no doors I want it to look good.Before you point it out I have a shower curtain rod run across the opening with a fancy curtain hung from it.I know it's not proper but you do what you must.

have 14x8 feet of space with part of it used for the washer and dryer. Bed is across from the washer/dryer.

Might look a little cramped but as you said, you do what you must. If there is another open wall for one of the furniture pieces (especially the Chifferobe), I'd use it.
Then by all means, go for it.
