Work at home online. Are there any reputable and honest websites out there that a person can go to...?

Yes there are lots of online scams and you have to do your homework. Be especially wary of spending any money to get a "job." There are people who do work online from home (telecommute) through legitimate jobs but they get them in traditional ways--resumes and interviews. Never give your money to someone offering you a "job" online.
Making money online is about working for yourself, not someone else. It's work just like anything. You to have learn what you're doing, and you have to build it if you want real success. Any shortcuts to big money out there will be huge secrets, not for sale.
That said, I really recommend this program...

There is a wealth of information with this company and you will learn how to make money online. There are ways to get started immediately, and you can grow it fast or slow depending on how much effort you put in. Also, I've never been one to buy into these things, but this one put together all those little pieces I've always been missing. It's really an amazing program,
