why isn't the weight loss noticeable?

why isn't the weight loss noticeable?

Postby SirFearnot on Fri May 01, 2009 9:08 pm

my sister is 5 4' and used to weigh 299 pounds. she went on a diet and lost 25 pounds so far. it isn't really noticeable and she is frustrated and wants to give up. i keep telling her that it will be noticeable sooner or later, but i really don't know when. does anybody know how much lost weight it takes to be noticeable on a 299 pound person?

thanks!!!

You should be able to see a difference but if not, she needs to do some toning exercises. They should help.

Congrats on the weight loss so far. Not sure where you are trying to notice it. Weight loss is highly deceptive when judged alone. Make sure your sister uses another means of measurement weekly along with the scale. An easy form of measurement is body tape. Simply measure her hips and waist. Record the numbers weekly and you should notice subtle changes that will keep you motivated when the big changes have yet to happen

Honestly, it all depends on someones body type. The taller person is going to make more of a dramatic change. The shorter ones are going to take more time. My sister is 5'1 and she weighs 200 lbs and she looks HUGE! someone that is my height at 5'7 is going to look leaner at 200 lbs. Its all in the body type! Tell her not to give up because once she gives up she will put on more weight than what she has lost!

I weighed 327 pounds. I had to stop worrying about the numbers on the scale and think more about inches around my waist.

Lose the scale and watch the waist is my advice. Weigh maybe once a month a week or so before her period so she doesn't have to see the water weight, too.

/Competitive Taekwondo really helps lose the weight, too, so she may consider that.

Depends what kind of diet she is on? She can be on diet or taking diet pills that sheds water weight which might not show as much. But if she is eating healthy and working out the weight loss will be noticeable.
