Why don't we just vote about gay marriage?

seriously. pass out some ballots. those that don't care enough to vote won't be counted (therefore their apathy continues to not affect anything) and everyone who cares enough to vote gets counted. Even better, make it a popular vote. one vote: one person.

I can't think of one reason, just lame excuses

it affects everyone, every dime used from my tax dollars affects me.

I think gay people have every right to be as miserable in marriage as the rest of us, so let's do it!

Because straight people have no business voting on my personal life. How about we start having ballots to decide whether straight couples should get married? Everyone at the church pushes yes or no, and they popular vote decides the outcome of a wedding? How exciting!

Well many states HAVE voted on it (when the state allowed the people the choice and not activist judges calling the shots and forcing it).

And in EVERY state that legally allowed their citizens to vote on gay marriage - EVERY state voted against it.

The reason they don't want that any more, is they know people are against it and they don't want to take that chance. So the rest of us who didn't get the chance to vote are being denied that chance.

Why vote in the first place?
the gov't or religeon shouldn't be allowed to dictate how people choose to live their lives!
gay or straight - marriage is a choice, no one or group has the right to tell another how to live their personal lives.

Ask this in a political forum. Oh, btw, if Jason and David want to gt married, I couldn't care any less. The idea would further show why marriage is a laughing joke, though.

Because gay people already have a Constitutional right to Equal Protection. Unless we want to amend the Constitution, gay marriage is inevitable. It will work its way through the courts and be upheld. All the religious pinheads won't be able to stop it.

Why don't we just vote about gay marriage?
