Why did my husband say we are playing house?

My husband is retired and spends the time I am at work with his parents,ex-wife, and friends. Instead of coming home when I am getting home from work, that's the time he picks to go work on a home he is trustee of for his son. He comes home past 11 pm. Today he left the house while I was still asleep before 6 pm to go paint the house because his back was hurting and he couldn't sleep any more. I called him and told him how I feel about this and he accused me of being unreasonable and wanting to "play house". I know he is not cheating(the ex wouldn't give him sex and that's the reason they divorced) but .... is this normal behavior for a married man? Why did he say we are playing house?

He thinks that you have a idea in your head of how a "perfect" marriage should be.
He is retired and wants to do his own thing. Maybe try to go along with what he's doing. Otherwise give him a break for a while.
I don't think your marriage is in trouble. He just sounds like he has a way he wants his day to go.

It is obvious he's cheating. This is comoing from someone who has cheated on their wife multiple times; i know how to detect a cheater.
You deserve so much better.

it sound like you need to address this because there something wrong
with that statement.. and now this is not the normal at all...
