which one is better a short haired or a long haired guinea pig?

The best way to chose a guinea pig has nothing to do with the color or the hair.You want to watch the guinea pigs in the cage and the one that is roaming about the cage checking things out is a curious guinea pig, cup it in your hands in front of your face and see if it will make eye contact with you take a deep breath and relax into your hands, if so that is a calm guinea pig. With this combination you have chosen a guinea pig you ill have hours of fun with and will be able to teach it simple tricks.

Opinion: I suggest getting a short hair guinea pig because if you get a long hair guinea pig you will have to brush and trim it. But if you get short hair you will only have to brush it 2 times a week (only if it sheds a lot). Get a short hair they are much cuter. It isn't a wise idea to get a long hair. This is my opinion only it does not mean you have to do what I say.

I have had long and short haired guinea pigs before, and to be honest, I liked the long haired ones best, even thought I have to brush him as much as possible, and I gave him a short bath the other day (also, you may need to cut him/hers hair from time to time), but you must have the time to do this. It doesn't cost much more money to have a long haired, but the time it does cost more of.
