What's the best mouse trap?

Good evening PearApple,
I hate to disagree with everybody, but I take rats and mice very very seriously. I am sure they do to and so do professionals.
Between me and my 86 year old neighbor, we have 12 fruit trees and 2 big gardens. I stay on guard for rats and mice. I really got concerned in 1993 when the new Hantavirus was discovered out here on the West coast. The virus is airborne. It is a pulmonary disease which is fatal. People catch it from "rat and mouse droppings".
I did not want my children playing on the floor with mouse droppings in any part of the house.
I really made a complete study of rats and mice. If the area you live in is dry, they will sometimes pass a trap with peanut butter, cheese or a human smell. A rat needs a lot of water. They mark their paths with urine. Cheese and peanut butter will make them thirsty.
Things to remember: Rats always travel in pairs. If you catch one, you will also catch another. Set your trap with half cooked "BACON". Bacon cuts out all human smell. The rats can smell it from a long way off. Tie your bacon on the trap with a little piece of thread. Rats love the bacon and the smell. You will not have to wait overnight to catch one. You may catch it in a few minutes.
One other thing. I was told to use bacon by a friend who is also a professional. The reason professionals use peanut butter is because it is cheap and easy. They are out of the house in seconds and on to the next job. A jar of peanut butter will last a long time. And rats will eat almost anything. So peanut butter does work.
Rats and mice will start to get into your houses about this time of year because of the weather. I have been catching two to six per season for 40 years. I usually catch them in minutes or a few hours.
Good luck. I really and truely hoped I helped. You want to get rats and mices out of your house as soon as possible.
