What kind of caulking would you recommend for this project...?

What kind of caulking would you recommend for this project...?

Postby RGaspari on Fri Oct 23, 2009 5:12 am

My sister has a nice hi def TV recessed into the wall, above the fireplace, but her soon to be ex-husband came and had the TV taken out, including the brackets by professionals b/c it's his TV.

To make a long story short, I've managed to hang up a new TV where the old one was and now I simply need to replace the molding that was there to cover the edge.

Would you kindly recommend which kind of molding and or brad nails I would need to do this? I am new to doing projects like this and I'm doing this simply b/c my sister doesn't have the money to hire a pro.

Thank you.

doesnt need to be anything fancy...use some vinyl molding as wide as you need and glue it to the wall with construction adhesive...

Any lumber yard or home supply store can help you with the trim and nails (usually 2" finish nails). But, to be consistent with the rest of the trim work, take a couple of pictures of the opening and some of the other trim in the room to the store with you. That way, they can advise not only on what trim to use, but also what style will look good with what you already have.
