What is a stock fish?

I went fishing the other day and the owner referred to a fish as a stock fish?

He may possibly be talking about a fish he had stocked the lake or pond with..

a fish that wasnt born in the lake, but brought in by a company that raises them. they are also probably called stocked fish

A stock fish is a fish that was born & raised in a place we call "fish farms" out here in southern California. A facility where they raise fish to stock lakes with. Here in So. California, they are mostly trout that they stock the lake with once a month during the trout season (winter months).
