What is a good allowance for a 11 year old? Or extra ways to make money?

What is a good allowance for a 11 year old? Or extra ways to make money?

Postby Cutiewitabootie on Thu Jul 02, 2009 5:59 pm

My allowance is $5 a week , My brother's is ten( He is 16).

All I do for my allowance is Clean my room and my 4 year old sister's every day.

If I don't do it then I won't get my full 5.

2.50 for each room a week. My dad has a saving account allowance for me. So i basically get 10. He puts 5 dollars in there every week ( not for college)

All i have to do for that is wash dishes ( not every day).

but i still don't think that is enough I ask my mom for a raise ( NO ) I asked my dad (NO) But I need more, What is a normal amount of money for a child's allowance?

Both of my parents work and we live in a good house. I sell candy and make about 10 a week off that ( including profit)

So what should I do? Will only do extra chores no jobs for other people

Just mainly tell me a good allowance

The reason I'm so into money is because I come from a buisness family, I started at such a young age with selling like 3rd grade

I don't want a job online I want some other activity of chores, I'm saving up to by alot of electronics right know I have 279 dollars but it isn't enoug for what I need

First of all, at 11 your name shouldn't be "cutie w/ a bootie". That's just wrong.

Secondly, why are you so concerned? You have 7 YEARS before you will be on your own. Let's do the math here:

From 11-16, you will make $5/week for 5 years = $1,300
From 16-18, you will make $10/week for 3 years = $1,560

That's $2,860 by the time you turn 18, not counting what your parents are putting into your savings and your Christmas, holiday gifts! YOU ARE 11... stop worrying so much about finances!

I do the $1 for each year. My 11 year old daughter gets $11 per week, if she keeps up with her chores. You are essentially getting $10, so not much difference. Tomorrow will probably will be the third week in a row she doesn't get paid, unless she gets her act together tonight.
