What does everyone have against mutts? :/?

Ok so I was reading a question about breeding a full blooded dog with a german Shepperd/lab mix and people were going nuts about how they shouldn't bring "mutts" into the world. If you ask me this is like saying don't bring a half white half black baby into the world.

Whats so bad about cute little puppies that are mutts? they are just as adorable as full blooded puppies.

The issue is not how cute the puppies are. The issue is that often mutts are bred but inexperienced and ignorant people. That means they are not always properly taken care of and that kind of breeding is just saturating the world with dogs. Why do we need more puppies from inexperienced breeders when there are already so many homeless dogs waiting for a home?

Absolutely nothing...however, there are millions of mutts dying in shelters every year because of over breeding. Reputable breeders who know what they are doing should be the only ones allowed to breed. So its not an issue with liking mutts or no...i happen to love mutts, but I do NOT agree with breeding them. There are already TONS of cute little puppy mutts on death row at your local shelter.

In conclusion (lol)
Breeding should be left to reputable breeders!!
Mutts should be spayed/neutered...if you want a mutt, go adopt. I have two mutts and I absolutely adore them!

Yes they are. There is nothing wrong with mutts. What is wrong is when backyard breeders and uninformed people let their dogs breed on purpose to make those cute little puppies (most of which will die in shelters when they are dumped).

And to pay a person hundreds of dollars for a mutt is just plain stupid. If you want to adopt a mixed breed dog, go rescue one from the shelters - don't line the pockets of greedy backyard breeders and mills.

I have a problem with anyone breeding any type of dog, mutt or pure bred. There's just too many of them out there to keep making more.

It probably has to do with the overpopulation of mixed breed dogs dieing every day in shelters why would anyone want to add to the problem that is just crazy.If you want a mutt please go adopt a dog from a shelter there are thousands dieing every day!!!

You just opened yourself up for some serious slapping.

Go tell your little story to all the dogs in shelters. Especially the ones they are killing because we are OVER RUN with dogs without proper homes.

There are 7 dogs available in the US alone for EVERY man, woman and child alive.

We want more irresponsible breeding?!!!!

Educate yourself. Go walk a shelter.

Nothing at all is wrong with mutts. They are just as any other dog... sweet, loving, loyal, and great pets.

I can't stand the importance society places on "pure bred" dogs. If you like a certain breed of dog and prefer it, then go ahead and spend 700 dollars for a puppy.

Just don't expect that puppy to be any better than the sweet little thing you could get for free from the shelter, or even the local classifieds.

It's these people who are continually breeding "pure" dogs and selling them that are contributing to the overpopulation of animals, rather than those who take unwanted puppies that need a home, and spay and neuter their animals.

Just my opinion, of course.

There's nothing wrong with mixed breed dogs. They usually make very smart and very good pets.
But purposely breeding a mixed breed dog when there's not enough homes for all the puppies period, is wrong.
People buy purebred dogs easier. Mixed breed dogs sometimes don't find homes. Then you have the saddest thing. An unwanted dog.
So mixed breed dogs are great. But purposely breeding them is not responsible. It's wrong.

It isn't anything against mutts b/c mutts can be great! But it is the fact that they are making more puppies that people won't want so they end up in shelters were many dogs die b/c they can't get home. If the puppies do not die then others dogs will b/c a lot of people want the puppies. So the other wonderful hearted older dog don't get the chance of having a home and end up being put asleep b/c they need more room in there shelter for other dogs. When people breed dogs especially mutts they are just making this situation worse.
