weight lifting with a weight loss diet?

well, lets say im in the gym for an hour. how much of the time should be dedicated for cardio, and how much for weight lifting? i went to the gym for 3 hours today and spent about 20 minutes lifting weights.

I would say that's good enough. Muscle is also metabolically active so just having it on your body will burn a few extra calories.
