wedding ceremony help?

wedding ceremony help?

Postby Jessca on Thu Oct 22, 2009 4:05 pm

I am getting married in 6 months, i know, i dont have alot of time! anyways, my fiance and I paid $600 to get married at a historical chapel in our town, very expensive but it is so beautiful! the thing is we are getting married by a justice, and we dont really want a "traditional" ceremony, but i also dont want a quick 5 minute vow exchange either seeing as though i am spending so much! My question is where can i find some different ideas for a ceremony that will fill up at least a half an hour! obviously i was never married before and i've only been to catholic mass weddings and obviously i dont want that, but i want something beautiful! any help would be great! I have no idea what i am doing! Lol

wedding ceremony help?

Meet with the JP to discuss options and google for some ideas. I'm sure the JP has done a lot of weddings. Another idea is have a close family member get ordained (in any religion this can be done online in 5 minutes time) and marry you guys it is a lot more personal and then it can be exactly how you want it.

You need to speak to the Justice...ask him/her what sort of arrangement they have for the ceremony. I'm not in the US but I do know where I am the ceremony by the justice was lovely and went on for 3/4 hour and there was no hurry...in fact she was really lovely and made the whole thing very special. It was my daughter who got married .

You can add a unity candle or sand ceremony. You could write your own vows and make them long. You could have a communion, all these could add some extra time. Maybe a reading by a family member, a poem, a prayer perhaps.

Good luck!

wedding ceremony help?

Hi. As others have said, you need to set up a meeting with the JOP and get his/her ideas also.

You can certainly have all the "traditional" elements:
~ walk up the aisle
~ someone playing music (guitar?)
~ vows
~ rings
~ maybe have someone do a reading of a nice poem or a Bible passage that you like.
~ have a unity candle or sand ceremony

Really, it doesn't take long to fill up about 20 minutes. BUT, meet with your officiant. I am sure you are not the first one that has wanted more than a 5-minute exchange of vows ceremony.

Good luck and I hope you have a beautiful day!
