Was there a time when your husband/boyfriend didnt want kids...but?

Postby YouKnowYouLoveMexoxoGG on Thu Oct 22, 2009 12:53 am

Is now all about having kids and a total family man? My boyfriend swears he hates kids but I see him with (certain ones) and he's good with them. They also really like him and i can see some of the time lol he likes them. Do you think as he gets older he'll want kids? Or just going to never want them? I just see a lot of guys say they dont want kids but them want them later on or wtvr, thanks.

Yes, my husband used to say that "he was horrible with kids" and "they didn't like him" and "he'd be a horrible dad". It took about 2 years (I had Lauren at 27 and I had started pleading at 25) but he gave in and I'm sure he's so happy.

If I could tell that what he was saying was true, I would have gone into it more slowly but truthfully he was just scared - all it took was to put him around some great kids aka his niece and nephew and he loosened up and realized that maybe it wouldn't be so bad.

I have two children - Lauren (5) and Joshua (3), and I'm sure Rico wouldn't trade them for the world. Now he's the one vying for another, he's got baby fever worse than I did when Josh was little. (around 14/16 months I'm pretty sure all parents have a period where another little one sounds great).

In fact, when I brought up his resistance while we were talking hypothetically about another one, he denied it, saying that it just "took us a while to conceive"! Haha - men. :)

I think that your boyfriend may be a little bit nervous because you guys are (I'm assuming, sorry and correct me if I'm wrong) young. Also, maybe he can't imagine the two of you married and stable enough for children. I hope that he'll come around and you'll get the kids you want!

well i'm not a chick but

from experience, i never wanted to get married or have kids......

and now i'm married......with two little boys....hahah.....and wouldn't trade my family for anything in the world.

mostly because we(men) are afraid of the responsibility, alot of things happens to a dad when he becomes a dad. all the "what if" thinking, "what if i'm a terrible dad?""what if i can't provide a good home""what if i screw up big time with the kid"

for the real men in the world, that changes the minute they see their kid. me and my wife are young(23 and 24) and were very scared of it, like a good scared, a worry scared, but as soon as i saw my first son's face all the worry went away. when he came out of her, the first thing he did was pee on the nurse and cry, and he settled down and stopped crying as soon as i started talking to him and he looked at me with his big brown eyes and i tell you what i've never been that happy before in my life.

give him time, he will warm up to it.
