Swine Flu and Aspirin?

Postby Sikono on Sat Oct 24, 2009 2:11 pm

Hey, I'm 16, and I took about four aspirins in the last 18 hours, along with ibuprofen (advil). I have all the symptoms of Swine Flu, but I didn't go to the doctor. I just read recently that Swine Flu + Aspirin = Reye's Disease... What should I do about this? Should I call my doctor? Is this extremely serious?

Swine Flu and Aspirin?

You shouldn't be taking aspirin at all, until you're an adult (early to mid-20s), since it's directly implicated in Reye's in young people.

If your symptoms do not include those of Reye's, don't beat yourself up over it. Just switch medications.
