pour salt around the perimeter of the room. they dry out and die from salt. no more complicated than that.

Yep, Omar is right.

Follow their trails back to the point where they're coming into the house. Pour salt onto the ground so that it makes a complete line around the area.

Snails can't handle salt. It immediately reacts with their slime, and starts bubbling up all around them, and eventually kills them. They won't cross the line you make.

If I were you, I wouldn't listen to all the people that say put salt around your kitchen.
Because this is what's going to happen.
Salt is on your counter, snail doesn't know salt is on the counter, it crawls then the next thing you know you wake up to find 5 shriveled up snails dead on your counter.
What's more gross then that?
I have never heard of this predicament before.
Keep windows, doors, and other openings around your kitches or house closed.

snails like damp dark spaces, make sure you don't have any leaking under your cabinets. you can catch them with flat containers of beer ,or coffee grounds also work. they cant cross over ceder chips so maybe you could put it around the base of your house about one inch thick is supposed to be enough also tall grass is an attraction for them so keeping it cut will help

You need something to shut them out, not to kill them. Inspect your home and find out where they are coming in. You don't want to clean up a lot of dead snails, you want to not have to deal with them at all, ever.
