Should I bother taking my daughter to school now?

Should I bother taking my daughter to school now?

Postby PatriciaJeremy on Fri Oct 23, 2009 5:57 pm

I didn't wake up until 12:00 noon. My daughter had school this morning. I went in the living room and she was sitting on the couch eating dry cereal and watching cartoons. I asked her why she didn't wake me up so I could make her breakfast and take her to school. She said, "You didn't wake me up so I thought it was Saturday." Well I can't argue with that. School is out in a couple hours. Should I bother taking her to school now. My alarm clock was still going off from 6 this morning. I don't know why I didn't hear it and wake up. I ALWAYS wake up at 6 to take her to school.

no, I'm not on medication. I've been sick lately, but still I don't know why I slept that late.

I didn't put the blame on my daughter. Why do you say that? I just asked her why she didn't wake me up. When I was younger, if my mom was in bed past 9, I would have went to make sure she was still alive because she always woke up early too. I just asked her though. I didn't yell at her or anything.

Well, she is only 5, but I have seen some cute cartoon alarm clocks. I could get her one, but I would still have to get up early to make sure she gets up.

no, one day shouldnt really hurt anything. but it would be a good idea to stop by the school and grab her assignments and reading materials.

Your alarm clock rang for 6 hours? No, don't take her to school, but you should call and explain her absence.

You need to call the school and explain her absence.

And then you need to see a doctor and find out why you didn't hear your alarm for 6 hours (funny, my clock radio will only ring for an hour), because even if you went to bed at midnight, you were sleeping for 12 hours. That's excessive.

I agree with Charm. Are you on some sort of medication? Maybe you need to change the dosage.

First of all call the school and tell them why she isn't in school. But don't bother taking her to school it's just one day.

I would take her to school and I wouldn't believe her little story.
If you don't teach her disaplant she will do it again because she will think she can just stay home.

If she is a good student and there are no tests, I don't see why she cannot have a "personal health day".

Another thing, don't put the blame on your kid.Waking her up is your responsibility...not the other way around.but hey, shit happens.
