Search Engine Optimization SEO?

I own a small business and I want to expand into online sales and e-commerce as well as increase my overall online presence and get more business and revenue?

What exactly is SEO? A few friends have recommended that I look into it but I'm not sure what SEO is or what exactly it refers to?

Can it help me? Where can I get it and what do I need to do?

Start out by getting a good domain name. That is to say, one that is very relevant to what you are promoting. few sites can use makeup names that have nothing to do with their sites.

SEO is search engine optimization. I other words, what can you do to bring your site to the forward most pages of a web search. There are obviously many web services that will charge for this, but many you can do yourself.

There are good, white hat and bad black hat strategies. Using a black hat strategy will make things worse or ban you al together.

Google has a secret algorithm that it does not share. But common knowledge would have this it is a combination of your URL, keywords, content and back links coming into your website.

Your key strategy is to break down those 4 and make them the best you can. But keeping in mind that it is for the audience you are designing for, not search engines.

The first thing is keyword analysis. Then make sure you have relevant and unique content. You will get sick of hearing after a while how content is king. But the best and most content will many times win out.

After that directory submissions. You will then be off to a good start.
