Quick question about keeping my muscle up?

You need to be more concerned about your shoulder and let it rest, over exercising an injured shoulder is NOT a good idea, as you can make your situation a whole lot worse.

The problem with creatine seems to be, as soon as you stop taking it, you loose quite a bit of muscle.

Whey Protein is definitely the way to go. And yes, drinking protein will help keep your muscles healthy and strong. Don't forget about natural foods as well, brown rice...black beans...whole wheat etc...
