Question for employers?

Postby GUnit on Sat Oct 24, 2009 1:29 am

What would you rather hire, a person that works really hard but isn't the smartest guy or around or a person who is smart and intelligent but is laid back and doesn't give a best effort? Im student right now, going to be looking for work in a short while, I fall under the first category but Im curious what employers would rather hire.

Question for employers?

Postby John487712 on Sat Oct 24, 2009 1:37 am

Depends on the specific job ... some jobs require more "willingness" than "ability" ... construction? retail? sales? drivers? Those tend not to need any inherent brilliance, and hard workers are always preferred.

Really, the second category of people only work out if they possess some very specific knowledge that isn't easily found.

But of course, how is an employer going to tell the difference until after they hire the person?

As long as you apply yourself and do your best while at work, then you will likely be reasonably successful at what you do, regardless of possibly being "not the smartest guy around".

Good Luck!
