PLEASE HELP ME FIGURE THIS OUT?

It's really up to you, how much weight do YOU want to loose? how much do you really want to be uncomfortable? unable to breathe? stinky and sweaty? how many hours out of the day do you want to devote to this? How about waking up with sore joints, sore muscles?
The pace at which you loose weight, is up to you. Your only dangers from exercising too much are possibly injuring a joint or muscle from overuse, or simply burning out from the hard work and no longer wanting to work out.
Gym's are definitely convenient, but do you want to spend your time there? Try finding something you at least halfway enjoy doing so the time goes fast, Also, if it seems like light exercise is really killing your joints from impact, try swimming. The water provides lots of resistance with zero impact to your joints.
Since your main focus is too lose weight, you will most likely be focusing on cardiovascular exercise. No matter what you do, get your hear rate up, and keep it up for a long period of time. (the heartrate and length of time of course depend on your fitness level)
