Periods and Tampons....?

Periods and Tampons....?

Postby BB on Fri Oct 23, 2009 9:19 am

Hey, ive had my period for over a year now. Its still pretty weird in its patterns. But this month its been super strong and with heaps of blood. I used a tampon at school today and I had it in for a few hours, but then when I went to the bathroom I saw blood all over my undies and i was like, wtf - I have a tampon.

turns out the flow was really big, and the tampon was actually full.

which now begs the question. I always thought tampons would still work even if they were full. Obviously not now.. there was heaps and heaps of blood in my undies.

im telling you, its a large flow this month! hhah..

so did I just do something wrong with the tampon, or do they always just leak when they are full?

Hey tampons absorb the blood so when its is full there is nowhere else for the blood too go apart from out onto your undies :) If ur having a heavy month change it every few hours to avoid red undies lol.x

Use a super absorbent tampon on the first couple of days because they are usually the heaviest.
If not wear a liner as well as a tampon.
Or stick to a pad on the first days (:

Tampons can only take so much....when they get full, they leak. The easiest way to tell...give the string a tug. If the tampons comes out easily, it is probably full. If there is slight pressure, there's probably a bit of time left in it. 2-3 hours is usually the longest i leave one in.
