Need help with identifying a bird? Thanks? =D?

Ok, do your research people. There is a small bird at my school. I totally love animals, and there has to be several dozen living in a flock in the school. I get there early and see them tweeting and hopping around. Ok. Here is the charectoristics.



Pretty small- Size of coffee cup, maybe a bit bigger.



Brown (or maybe dark gray, I think brown though. Ill update when I find out.)



Yellow splotch on neck.



Lives in Southern California, United States Of America.

You have helped a lot, but none seem to be exactly right. They are kinda ball-ish with short feet, so they hop everywhere. They are small, like I said, abd brown. The yellow spot isn't very big, by the way. It is just from bottom of beak to just visible on chest. Just a tiny stripe is still visible on chest under beak. WWhen the look up you can see the spot clearer. thanks SOOOOO much I see you put a lot of work into this! thank u thank u thank u! :D

I can't seem to find anything that fits your description. My suggestion would be to take a picture of one and show the photo to a worker at a wildlife center near you and they should be able to tell you what kind of bird it is.
