my mother has a golf ball size lump on her arm?

she went to her gp today and he said it was nothing to worry about, it doesn't hurt but i thought most lumps should be checked out, he didn't say what it was but to just ignore it, also her hair is falling out, he said it was stress, should she ask for a second opinion, she is 73...

My grandmother just recently died from cancer. I am takin school to become a doctor so i know what im talkin about. The lump on her arm needs to be checked out because i do believe that there is a high possibility that it might be a tumor.

I don't think it is anything serious, probably a gangoil or cyst but to be safe I would get a second opinion, my friend had one on her wrist and although it wasn't serious she got it removed at day surgery, my partner has one on the outside of his left foot and doctor says probably a cyst and will have to see the hospital for removal, he is also a diabetic, I would be more worried about her hair falling out. Google cyst or gangoil (think that's how you spell it)

stress with the hair falling out worrying on what it is,, sounds like a cyst has it dont hurt .. assure thats it ok just a fatty lump..

She needs a second opinion. A lump that size even if it isn't cancer should be treated. My concern would be that she has a type of cancer called sarcoma. Older adults can get certain types of sarcoma. Many regular doctors have never seen this type of cancer and misdiagnosis is more common than anyone will admit. So she needs a second opinion and maybe a third. If no one can give her a definitive answer about what this lump is .. than ask about biopsy or removal. Its very strange that her doctor didn't tell her what he thought this lump was.
