My girlfriends "unusual proffessional" behavoiur in job to me?

Hi. I would ask for sincere answer on thing which troubles me.

My girlfriend and I are coworkers. We know each other for almost 10 years but we are together for one year and half by now. We love each other and each moment with her is so nice. But she behaves strangely at job when she sees me. She is somewhat embarassed when someone sees us together although now everybody knows about us. One instance, I came into her office, two other people also there, and she ignored me for minute, worked on computer without looking at me. Next we parted at the bussines parking (we don't live together). She drives with other coworkers. She sad "By", not even properly looking to me, just jumped into the car and thats it. There are more examples and she says that she is proffessional. I personnaly, could never do that. It would seem like some kind of betrayal of our relationship.

Your girlfriend is behaving properly. Always 100% professional and not your buddy at work. That is why the majority of companies prohibit co workers from dating.

She is probably just trying to keep it professional because at some jobs, it is against company policy to fratenize. If she doesn't act that way outside of work, I wouldn't worry about it.

Sassy's and K's responses are right on. Do not attempt to burst the professional behavior bubble at work since it's a no-no to appear anywhere intimate when surrounded by co-workers who would be glad to report the two of you to management for violating the no-dating rule. Play the game until you return to safer environment.

Fishing off the company pier is against the rules in many places. She is being correct in treating you like a colleague and not a boyfriend while at work. Even husbands and wives cool it with the displays of affection when at work. You work probably a max of 8 hrs per day. You have the other 16 hours to do what you want.
