Magazines, Newspapers and types of tickets are all fixed priced items, how do the sellers make their profit?

How do people buy these items at a low enough price that they can make a living a sell them. Do they save because they buy in bulk. Is there set price as wholesale than a set price to consumer (the price shown on the ticket or near the bar code. Or are they just hired and paid a wage to sell them, that'd make more sense, like a commission.
