Is there any thing you could subsitute in this diet to get the same effect?

For the movie The Machinist, Christian Bale was disgustingly thin. In order to prepare for the role, he basically fasted on coffee, and either one apple or one can of tuna each day, for four months, and lost over sixty pounds. I was just curious as to why he chose those foods, especially because the mercury in tuna could cause serious damage if eaten too much. Is it because those are the only foods to produce such fast weight loss without technically starving? Or is there some other foods that he could have eaten for the same amount of time in order to acheive the same results?

Weight loss was a huge problem for me until I checked out acai berry. I understand they say that pills won't work, however they certainly worked for me, and they've been featured on the Rachael Ray Show too. There's a free trial going on at the moment at http://mefople.zimcraft.com, why not check it out , what's the worst that could happen?

don't do those diets!!

yes, you can loose the weight, but that doesn't mean:

1. you're getting your daily intake of nutrients

2. you're not gonna bounce back once you get off that diet. trust me. you do. you'll gain it all back.

3. the diet is safe for your body.

just get in 2 hrs. of exersise every day, eat slowly (put your fork down after every bite, use a smaller plate, ect. your brain takes 20 min. to send a signal to your stomach to stop eating. so you over eat like that often)

and eat about 5 small meals every day. it's easier to controll that way.

read this: eat this not that it's a book that's really good.

This is an interesting case - and his diet was a mix of the basics needed to sustain him on the minimum intake.

Coffee - opens the blood vessels to provide more energy (tea would work)
Apple - nutrients and fibre
Tuna - protien but low in fat(in small quantities like Christian ate, mercury is not a concern).

Notice the absence of carbs and fat - he wanted those to come from his own body.

Note that you do NOT want to use this method to lose weight, as it takes more weight from muscle than from fat. Also, its not sustainable, as the cravings will be intense, and in the long run, it does major damage to your internal organs, especially your heart (since it is a muscle).

Please, please do not use this method to lose weight. There are many healthy ways to achieve weight loss, but at a slower but sustainable way.

It is feasible to lose weight rapidly but you should be realistic and take on board that if you lose weight fast then you will almost certainly put it all back on again just as fast. The only thing that definitely showed results for me is green tea, it can be seen in the resource box underneath, they have a limited number of free trials left, it has been featured in Reader's Digest and USA Today. I shed 30 pounds, it definitely does produce results!
