Is Sully the hero US Airways pilot way, way, way overexposed?

Postby PatchesOHoulihan on Sat Oct 24, 2009 1:35 am

I think he is. Look, he did a good job. But enough of the hero worship. The bigger question is what any experienced pilot would have done in that tough spot. Would they have all done the same thing?

Enough of Sully, just go back to flying airplanes hoss.

Yeah, he is. He did a great thing, but then again what he did is exactly what every other pilot is trained to do, and what every pilot who regularly flies out of that same airport he took off from has in the back of their mind - if something happens ditch it in the river so you dont crash into houses or roads.
Also, the plane he was flying - a Airbus 320 is designed to somewhat be able to withstand a water impact and possibly float for X amount of time.

If he is, it is not by his doing alone.
The media has a new darling that people wish to see, and hear, and until that public clamor ends, they will continue to expose him.

He should have gotten about 48 hours coverage and then the media should have moved on. You do know that he has a book out now, don't you? He was just doing his job and by doing that he saved his own azz in the bargain.

What he did was his job yes but after all the losses we have had since 9-11 and other disasters I think yes where a little bit over board with the story but I also say Thankyou for keeping a cool head and not panicking or just crashing and not preparing all on board. After all he has saved alot of lives that day and he and his up to date training helped him to get all of these people home with there familys and I hope he will be a innspiration to alot of other maybe disaters to revert to there training and we too can save others lives.

I think he and his crew are well respected before this as well thats what alot of these passangers had said later on about them.Everyone will feel safe on his flight. It was apart of his job but he could have panicked and it could have been a worse result.

I give him credit and his crew because of how well rained they remained in that kind of crash.

So Im sorry but I think hes a Hero and his crew!!! It will fade away more but it will never be forgotten. We can all do that in many differant ways on the ground too! Im really glad everyone is safe and if its important to there lives it is in ours as well!

I'd much rather see Sully than that ugly witch Nancy Pelosi. Talk about over exposed. Anyone can be an idiot. Ain't that right Bubba?
