Is getting a tattoo more painful than stretching your ears?

I'm getting my first tattoo on my foot next week. I have a pretty good pain tolerance so it doesn't worry me. I just wondered what kind of pain it is and how bad it is so i'm prepared.



In your experiece how would you explain it?

Getting a tattoo is prolly as painful as stretching your ears till they are red. Its not unbearable, so step up n do it !! **

tats def hurt worse than stretching your lobes.
it hurts to some degree, at least. some places worse than others, and some people handle it better than others. when i got my first tat, i was surprised at how much it DID hurt, after hearing everyone say "oh it tickles" or "no it doesnt hurt at all". then again, my first tat was on my ribs.
anyways, the first few minutes will be the worst, but after that you become slightly numb and your adrenaline kicks in and you can kinda phase the pain out.. if that makes sense. if you have to endure a long session, (in my opinion) the pain progressively gets worse once you pass the 3 or 4 hour mark. but seeing how your getting it on your foot, i wouldnt anticipate more than an hour er so.
i find it helps to just focus on my breathing, and keep the conversation to a minimum.
im sure you will do just fine.

I have 3 tattoos, one on my hip (30mins work), one on my lower back (2 hours work) and one on my foot (30 mins work)!

Without a doubt the foot was the most painful! (any artist will tell you its one of the sorest places!)

But... Its not an unbearable pain (not for me anyway) and it is sooo worth it when the art work is done!!

It's a bearbale pain,
You just need to brace yourself for the first like 5 seconds, after that it's just a stingy scratchy type of feeling.
I've never strectched my ears, but my sister did to 16mm and so im assuming that it couldn't of been too painful.
I have several tattoos and My hip was the worst place, the wrists are easy!
Best to start with something small to egt used to the feeling and then get it extended.

It's a totally different kind of pain, because it's a totally different kind of insult to your body.

Stretching when done properly should not hurt much at all. If you're not waiting the right amount of time or skipping sizes then it's pretty painful.

A tattoo on the foot ranks up there with some of the more painful places to get tattooed. If your ears were stretched improperly then it will hurt a little more than stretching, but it's a longer process so you'll feel that pain for a bit longer.

Just make sure you get plenty of rest before the tattoo and you've eaten a good meal and it won't be anything unbearable. Just don't focus on it. If you can, bring some music and gum. If you don't have gum just concentrate on swallowing your saliva. I know it sounds crazy but I promise it works!
