Is 36 wks gestation good for twins?

Postby 37w5d on Fri Oct 23, 2009 5:22 am

Well since they are twins, they will be smaller. My friend was pregnant with twins and they would not let her go past 37 weeks, apparently there is a risk of stillborn if twins go past that or something.
36 weeks for any pregnancy is good, but that doesnt mean they will be free from complications if born then, but generally speaking, the survival rate and health of them is really good at that gestation.

Call your Doc and talk to them about it.

36 weeks with twins is amazinge. I believe the average for twins delievery is 32 weeks. Twins tend to mature faster in utero than singleton pregnancy's and your two are probably as developed as a full term singleton at this point. The babies will most likely be fine, my guess would be a few days in the NICU at MOST. Good chance they won't even end up there though.

Yea. They might be a little smaller than they would be if you carried full term but they should be fine

The average twin gestation is 35 weeks (single babies are an average of 39 weeks). Term for any babies is still considered 37 weeks. Twins born at 36 weeks would be considered preterm, but in my experience, making it all the way to 36 weeks for twins is pretty darn good :)

Congratulations on your babies birthdays!

36 Weeks is VERY good for twins!
I was induced with my twin daughters at 38 weeks (my choice) the doctor even asked me if I wanted to wait another week.
So yes, they do let you go over 37 weeks if you choose!

Your twins should be fine!
Mine weighed 6lb & 4lb 14oz.
They didn't need to go into ICU & I could take them home the next day.
Good luck hun!
