If you had children before marriage, did you wear a veil?

If you had children before marriage, did you wear a veil?

Postby 932468 on Fri Oct 23, 2009 1:51 am

I was reading that brides should not wear a veil if they already have children because it is bad etiquette. Me and my fiance have a daughter together and we are getting married in a year and I want to wear a veil. I know it really comes down to my decision because I am the one getting married but I would just like to know other thoughts.

I wouldn't worry about what an archaic book says about etiquette. Now, if anything, consult with him and if you wish, close family.
Their opinions in my opinion would be more important than those of a book that's probably from at least a decade ago.

Do you ever wonder where all these little rules come from?

Etiquette is there to make other people feel comfortable around you. No one is going to feel uncomfortable if you wear a blusher (that's what you meant I believe) on your wedding day. In fact, everyone is going to be focused on the joy of the occasion, and how happy they are that someone they love found someone to be with forever.

I don't think that kind of old fashioned etiquette applies anymore. All kinds of brides wear white, and that's supposed to be for virgins!

Id wear a veil...and white! in this day and age there are so many "rules" people have broken before they get married. I wouldnt worry if i were you. Do what you feel like doing.

Technically the origins of the wedding attire all symbolize something. The white is for purity or virginity. The veil was to hide the face, and show modesty and mystery. Truthfully, the white dress is worse etiquette than the veil. If you want the veil, wear the veil. 95% of your guests won't know the difference anyways.

Best of wishes for you, your fiance, and your family!

I've never heard of that. When I get married, I plan to wear a veil and I have a 13 month old daughter.

If you want to wear a veil, wear one :)
