Well to answer your question there is a way that you can still enjoy your ice cream and Chocolate at least one day every week and still be able to lose weight.

If you set aside 1 day every week to cheat then you will be not only rewarding yourself for staying compliant with your diet for the 6 days before your cheat day but you will also be able speed up your metabolism so you will burn more calories during the next 6 days after your cheat day.

To answer the other part of your question it can affect your weight loss because if you constantly dwell on the fact that you love these things that you feel you can no longer have then you will more than likely start cheating to get these things and if you don't learn the right way to cheat it may very well cause your whole dieting efforts to be a big waste of time.
