If you ate only candy bars all day, but you only ate 1,200 calories worth of them would you still lose weight?

Meaning, does weight loss go by quality or calories?

What if you ate that same amount of calories in broccoli, would it be the same?

**note: I'm not actually doing this, it is more of a scientific curiosity.

yes because you would be expending more energy then consuming but you would be very unhealthy and would be lacking serious vitamins and minerals and if you were on it for a long time you would develop medical problems, no matter what it was you singled out to eat you would lose the weight due to what I said and would have the same issue of medical problems

No, at least not the way you're body would need to lose weight to be healthy. Just because someone is losing weight does not necessarily mean they are getting healthier. Yea, you might lose weight until the second or third day when you're starving and decide to binge, then you're worse off than you were before. Weight loss is about calories in calories out. It should be more about eating healthier than eating less.

Scientifically tho, you're body would go in to starvation mode and whatever you ate after a while of eating nothing would be converted if needed and stored as fat. You would feel like crap. You might lose more weight eating broccoli because it has more fiber than a typical candy bar, but still- the same starvation mode would begin regardless if you are eating candy or veggies.

NO NO NO NO NO
People are not looking at the nutrition of your average candy bar.
They are fairly high in fat, but that's not the bad part. It would most likely throw off your metabolism and make you gain weight/stay the same.
