If a guy initiates a divorce, is he at fault under the law? (I.e. can the woman take his stuff?)?

With no fault divorces, it doesn't matter who files. Filing first is of benefit in a custody challenge. Also, filing first can include an order to remove the other party, leaving the filer in control of possessions.

Most states are "no fault" states. Either way, fault is generally something like adultery, fraud, and so forth. If a person just wants a divorce it is considered irreconcilable differences.
That said, she only gets his stuff if they had no pre-nup, and then things like the length of the marriage/children and so forth are considered.
Personally I think people that try to get stuff out of their ex's are scummy.

Why are you asking if it is not about you?
Oh, I get it, it's your sister, isn't it?
