I really need some advice. Really.?

I really need some advice. Really.?

Postby cheryl on Sun May 10, 2009 6:43 pm

So, I'm 16, a girl, 'bout 5'6".

Realized my bum&things can't be helped due to genetics.

Used to be that kid who bought the 3 candy bars for 99cents.

Stopped early, didn't come out looking so bad.

I do exercise: kickboxing, push ups, lunges, weights, etc.

Trying to lead a healthier lifestyle.

But I'm just not content with the way I look. I hate having these curvy thighs that I feel throw the rest of my body off. And I know targeted weight loss doesn't play out well. Why not just improve everything?

So, what do you recommend I do, food wise and exercise wise?

And how long (on average) before I see any distinct improvement?

Thankyou in advance. :)

When I was a kid I was really active and saw no improvement in my appearance, as I get older I see more dramatic results. Weight training builds muscle, which 1lb of muscle burns 50 cal/day just for having it. Weight training is good.

I use http://www.sparkpeople.com
Its FREE. They have a food tracker/calculator, workout suggestions and diagrams, and a little community and blog if that helps you stay on track. I've seen great results and the advice is really easy. I learned that I didn't have to eat less to weigh less, just eat better. No fat intake and you'll be surprised that you can still feel full, all the time. :D

Hi Cheryl,

You're right, it is very hard to target one area when working out. It sounds like you've been doing some great exercises to begin with (lunges) however they key to a good workout is changing it up regularly. For example, every 3-4 weeks you should be changing your routine by either altering your rest time, number or reps or sets, exercises or type of grip. Compound exercises such as squats, lunges, walking lunges, step ups, dead lifts, hamstring curls, push ups, inverted rows, pull ups, etc are the best. I would recommend doing a total body workout such as squats, push ups, dead lifts and pull ups as one set. With regards to your diet, focus on eating lean protein, nuts, vegetables and occasional fruit for sugar cravings. Eliminate soda, alcohol, crackers, cookies, granola bars, muffins, pancakes, waffles, pop tarts, bread, white potatoes, pie, cake, pastry, etc. It takes time to notice major changes but if you are diligent with your diet (no cheating) then results will come faster. Good luck!

hey do not do the free trial of green tea! i did it and they kept charging 80 bucks to my account, all of those things are scams, and pills dont work. i would say go to your local gym and talk to a trainer. best of luck. :]]

Whenever I hear about people losing weight, they've always said they drink lots of water everyday. Eat fruit. Just cutting out the sugary foods helps.

I have a hard time with diet :S

But with a little exercise, eating the right foods and not eating the bad foods, it should all work out.

Maybe go see a dietician. I've heard they can do wonders. I have an appointment for one coming up.. or did I miss it.. AH.. Haha.. I forgot it! Darn, gonna have to make another one lol.

Anyway, good luck

:o)

well you are already doing kickboxing, push ups, lunges, weights, and leading a healthier lifestyle.

That only leaves a complete body or head transplant. ie transfer you head to a fit and lithe body. That should work well so long as you like the looks of your head. Ideally you would be looking for someone with an beautiful body and ugly head as a donor/receptor.
