I Really Need Help for my Anxiety/OCD?

Postby Intelrocks on Sat Oct 24, 2009 2:11 pm

I'm 15 yrs old. I'm in grade 10. This year I'm struggling very much with panic attacks, and ocd. I can barely go to school. My parents don't really like the idea of me staying at home, and it bothers me because I can barely go to school. I absent like every other day and I keep getting panic attacks. I also feel lost and depressed due to all the anxiety i'm having. my counsellor said something about not going to school, but still catching up on my schoolwork somehow. What do you think i should do?

you should consider going to a psychiatrist they can prescribe you a medication to help with your panic attacks. You should also go to therapy to learn how to cope.:)

Okay. Hi! First off, I want you to know there is help. Anxiety is never easy to deal with. But you can do it.

It sounds like you have been having a rough time and it's getting you down. And you want to probably be back at school and have everything back to normal.

So tell me about the anxiety... Does it happen at school only? Are you afraid of something you can identify? Like are you afraid of being humiliated, or failing a test? Something like that?

Maybe it's more like you just feel generally uptight and don't know why.

It's probably time to see a counselor, who will be understanding and can help you to feel back in control of your feelings.

Hm... I could go on and on. If you want, go ahead and email me. My name is Kailah and I'll be here for another hour at least.

Panic attacks can be a phscological responce to pressure or of a physical input. Look up allergies and mental disorders on the internet, or just mental disorders and from these places you perhaps can determine some form of self diagnosis without embarrasment, but if you are still confused seek medical advise from you doctor, as this can snowball into disorders that have a greater and longer period of recovery'

Hello there
If you feel that bad maybe you should find a good psycologist. You can check out online school options. You get a real diploma without having to go to school. I know high school can be a pain. There is lots of hormones and drama. It seems like the education kind of takes a back seat. So yeah maybe check out your options. Even G.E.D. classes or alternative school. I really hope you feel better.

If you get homeshcooling now, you will still have to face your problems in a few years when you get out in the work place. You better nip the problem in the butt now.

Psych yourself out every morning. Be stern with yourself. Give yourself no wiggle room. You ARE going to school today... and don't let yourself have a way out.

Meantime, find something that relaxes you. Play some online monopoly or something. Read a book. Concentrate on keeping a cool head. Remember that you are your own master, and don't let your emotions get the best of you. If it's still more than you can handle, ask your doctor for the mildest medication to help you that is possible. I repeat, MILD. You don't want to get too drugged up... that's just as bad. Make sure that the meds are always your last resort.

Good luck man :)

You state twice in your question that you "keep getting panic attacks" and that you struggle with "ocd".

Have either been diagnosed by a medical professional or a metal/psychological health professional? I know the panic attacks have not - because what you "keep getting" are not panic attacks. "Panic Attack" is a specific term relating to an anxiety disorder. It does not simply mean feeling "panicky", scared, anxious, or nervous.

What medication have you been prescribed for your diagnosed Obsessive Compulsive Personality Disorder? Are you taking the correct dosage at the correct time? If you have neither been diagnosed nor prescribed medication, I can pretty much tell you without doubt that you do not suffer from OCPD.

As for feeling lost and depressed due to anxiety, welcome to the age of 15.

Don't focus on the symptoms. I'll say that again because it is IMPORTANT. Do Not focus on the symptoms. Keep your mind occupied - with schoolwork, activities that require focused thought, activities that require hand/eye coordination or other mind/body coordination. Get at least an hour of physically demanding exercise every day.

Don't focus on the symptoms. Keep your mind occupied with productive thoughts and activities. You won't be 15 for much longer and things will start to get better.
