Captors are English rigs made specifically for catching carp. If that's what you are going to do, then there is probably none better.

In Europe, carp are considered a great gamefish (and rightly so). They don't have the unreasonable stigma that they do here in the US. In reality, carp are superb fighters, large powerful fish, and great tablefare. I even fly fish for them.

How long your rig will last depends on how often you use it, how you use/abuse it, and most importantly, how you take care of it. If you treat it right, barring accidents, it should last you a lifetime. The weakest part of any rig is the reel,. They all will eventually need work from time to time. But if you do the required maintenance, the reels will provide lifetimes of service. I have some reels that I fish with (Mitchell 300s) that my dad used back in the 40s and 50s.

Your rig will probably work great for most bait fishing.

I think you are off to a good start.

Happy Fishing.
