How do I add a password to my dell laptop?

I have had my dell laptop for about 3 months. I want to add a password to it because my annoying brother and sister keep going on it with out asking. But my friends say you can only apply it when you first get it...so help me!!

Go to control panel, user accounts... set it up in here,, you need to have the admin. account to do this.. ~

Not all BIOS support a BIOS password. You may have to settle for protection within the OS itself. One popular pseudo-solution is, in addition to requiring password on log-on, you should set a password requirement to exit from screensaver mode. Whenever you leave your computer, turn the screensaver on.
