HELP! My kitten keeps peeing on EVERYTHING!?

HELP! My kitten keeps peeing on EVERYTHING!?

Postby Flutter on Fri Oct 23, 2009 12:44 am

My kitten is almost a year old and she isn't spayed and keeps peeing on all my family's stuff. The weird thing is she doesn't pee on my stuff. What should I do? And is this because she isn't spayed? (Yes, I am getting her spayed soon. she's not going to have kittens)

OH! (Sorry i forgot I'm very tired long day) she is potty trained she uses a litter box and all.

It's not exactly because she isn't spayed. That's not the problem. When she pees on something, try giving her a little spanking or say "NO!" You could also get "pee pads" for her if you think she really needs them.

No. It has nothing to do with the fact that she is not spayed. What you need to do and should have done when you first got her is potty training, same as with any child. Get a litter box, put some litter in it, pick up the kitten and set it in there. It will dig around and after a while get used to it. Watch her and from her behavior you'll be able to tell when she's about to go pee... pick her up, set her down in the litter box. After a couple of times she'll be coming there by herself. Good luck

Where's the litter box? You say nothing about the kitten's regular place to pee. I'd say it's an infection, so I'd call the vet. When a kitten can't get to the litter fast enough (with an infection she has 2-3 seconds) she has to pick somewhere else to use in a hurry.

Do the spay now, and have them run a test on her urine. Now.

Get her spayed, first of all.

I'd say that she's marking your family's things as her territory. The reason she doesn't mark yours in because she knows you're in charge of her, so therefore you are the alpha.

This is based on male cat's behavior, I had a female who wasn't spayed until she was two and a half years old and she never did this. So this is just a guess. I'm fairly certain it will stop once you get her spayed, though. If it keeps happening even afterward, take her to the vet and see if some thing's wrong with her. Better yet, when you take her in to get spayed ask the vet to look her over really quickly because she's been peeing on everything.

i don't think it is because of spay or not. if male' yes. you need to train her to not pee at other places. watch her often and if you see she wanna pee, then quickly bring her to the litter sand. but before you start doing that, you need to clean up all the things that she peed on. make sure no smells left. at all!

She is still a kitten. But you should say NO firmly when you see her, each time she goes to do her potty, carry her to a littler box, or carry her to it even when she is not going.

My cat back when she was a year old peed on everything too. I think it's a phase she'll grow out of, I know quite a few cats that as kittens would relieve themselves anywhere despite knowing perfectly well how to use the litter box, and they all start about that age, and they all grow out of it.

Just stick it out and clean up after her, when you take her to be fixed just ask your vet for more advice.

Female cats DO urine make, it's not just male cats. So, this could be one reason. Another could be a urinary tract infection. The only way to determine if it's medical or behavioral, is to take her to the Vet.

Sounds like your cat has a urinary tract infection (UTI) Take her to the vet for a urine test. If it is positive for infection, the vet will give you an antibiotic and she will be fine. Make sure that you remove the odors were she has urinated with a good enzyme cleaner for urine odors. Then make sure the litter is clean. Put her in the litter several times a day so that she gets used to it again. Urinary tract infections are painful. This is why a cat won't use the litter box many times as they associate the pain with the box.
