guys, define "i want to get to know you better"?

i've never talked to this guy, & all i know is that apparently i have had a class with him way back whenever in high school.



recently out of the blue he contacts me saying he wants to be friends & get to know me better & hang out. immediately i think, why now? what for? is that wrong of me to think this way? haha



anyways, what's up with that? did it take him awhile to work up the courage to talk to me or something? or am i over thinking it, & he really does just want to be friends? but would a guy normally ask a girl out to the movies at night, & offer to pick up, if he just wanted to be friends?



idk if this helps but i'll just add on a sidenote that i'm not interested in being more than friends. he seems nice enough but i just don't want a boyfriend now.
