Going deaf over time...........?

If a person is being overwhelmed by load noises without wearing ear protection, why is it that most people don't start to loose hearing until later in life?

Going deaf over time...........?

they actually are going deaf progressively. i know it happened to me just like you say.But after say 50-60 there is additional hearing loss that shows up the earlier loss. My friend, an electrician on building sites, had the same and by 50 was 93% deaf in one ear without knowing it.It is in fact called progresive hearing loss.
