First time going to a casino ?

Postby Urban on Fri Oct 23, 2009 2:13 pm

So me and some friends were going to go to cedar point (amusment park) today but its raining all day down there so plan B was a casino. I recently turned 18 and dont want to blow my cash fast so do you have any advice?

We are all bringing only 100 inside and when were done, were done btw. Its on a native american reservation so you CAN be 18 and gamble. Thanks!

Go in with $100 like you said, and only spend $50, just see how it goes. If it's bad, head out, if it's good, well as long as you make more than you started with you're already ahead. It's gambling dude, hard to give advice, cause once you start winning you get that mentality that you see on deal or no deal all the time lol, you gotta know when to stop.

It is important to go into the casino with a game plan in place and it is even more important to stick to it. As you are new to the casino you may find yourself in over your head. You may find it beneficial to play some online poker to improve your game as the odds are better than they are in the casino. $100 can go rather quickly when you are in the casino attracted by all the flashing lights and the electrified atmosphere so it is important to ensure you don't get carried away. There is also a Poker Etiquette that you must be aware of and follow. You can find this guide here http://www.poker777.com/poker-etiquette.php and for general poker tips you can find them here http://www.poker777.com/poker-strategy.php

First time going to a casino ?

Postby gamesplayer on Fri Oct 23, 2009 3:09 pm

I remember my first time at a casino. What a fantastic time I had. I went in with the attitude I'm either going to lose the lot or double my money. My advice on the best game to play is blackjack. Try not to sit at the end of the table as quite often, if the dealer wins, people blame the last person. Stick to the minimum limit (normally $5) and when you're winning a few in a row, double up when it feels right. You can normally get at least a couple of hours gameplay in that way. I remember that I was doing quite well and someone came up behind me and started betting on the hand I was playing. Its called backbetting. That was very nerveracking for me.
Go and enjoy it and have a good time. :)

I'm assuming they do not have a dice table.
So your next best bet is try your hand at blackjack. Buy a book on how to play or you can usually find a hand-held card telling you when to hit, split, stand, etc. You may even find that info on the net.
Playing the last seat or the first really makes no difference except other players tend to blame the last player for their losses. It doesn't really matter.
A good player can get the odds down to about 1.41% in favor of the house. Not bad considering odds on roulette are 5.5% regardless of how you bet.
In BJ parlay bets are good. You're betting 1 unit to win 3. Bet 1 if you win bet 2. If you win that you have won a total of 3 for an investment of 1. Still the odds are against you but it's entertainment.
Play to have fun. Don't expect to win. If you do it's a bonus. You don't expect to win your money back when you go to a movie. You go for the entertainment. If someone should give you a refund it's a bonus.
Slots are fun, The house % is anywhere from 2% to over 20. Depending on machine. No the casino does not change the chance of winning on a daily or even weekly basis. The machines are usually set at the factory for the payout percentage and they are not changed.
Have fun. Enjoy yourself. If you win it's a bonus. Be careful.

Just my own opinion but you're going in with the right attitude. Go in with a set amount of money and if you run out, which is a very real possibility, walk out.

Slot machines are the worst to play in my opinion. Stick with BlackJack or one of the other card games to make the most of your time and money.

So it will be your first time. Good luck. I suggest you learn the basics of gambling first before you ever make your first bet as it saves you frustrations and unnecessary losses. Remember that a warrior who goes to the field unprepared usually loses the battle. There's a free gambling e-book I believe would be very helpful to first timer; it tells of 9 fatal mistakes you should not make. You may download it from here:http://www.gamblingbookz.com

I would suggest that choose a convenient and easy to play game , stick to a strategy and gather some knowledge about casinos from http://www.casinoscorner.com/articles. It would help boosting in your confidence and would increase your chances of winning.
