Does anyone take any advice from the diet exercise section?

Does anyone take any advice from the diet exercise section?

Postby tm678 on Sat Apr 18, 2009 6:13 am

There seem to be so many questions asking for quick fix weight loss, how to lose belly fat, how to gain weight, am I too fat...etc etc. I'm just wondering whether people actually take any notice of the answers. I always try to give honest advice but it seems that askers pick answers they want to hear. A lot of the answers also give conflicting, often completely wrong advice which must be confusing especially for the younger askers.

Furthermore, when you pose a question, a bar appears at the side of the page showing similar questions that have already been answered - for these repetitive weight-loss questions, the answers will always be the same: exercise and diet. I don't understand why this is so difficult to grasp. Why do people persist in asking them?!

Do those of you out there wanting to lose weight understand that there is no quick fix or should I just not bother answering any more of the questions in this section? It really is rather demoralising!

Thanks Blizzard and to anyone else who answers. I'm just interested as to whether I'm completely wasting my time is all...!

I'm not trying to lose weight! I'm a qualified gym instructor who believes it's more important to be healthy than stick thin. But that doesn't seem to be a popular view in general. I workout regularly and eat pretty much what I want. I'm 5'4, weigh 9 stone 8lb and am completely happy with myself. I'm wondering why everyone has such a bad attitude to weight...the media has a lot to answer for!

I was one of them people before, i was asking loads of question on how to lose weight people said you can do it in like 2 weeks so I got really exitded and then tryed it and didnt work :(

Loads of people just copy and paste that stupied fukin acie berry or w.e its called you know what I mean ? where they try getting you to do one of them sliming world things.

But one person just said Hey why dont you try P90X I hear its meant to be really good.

Looked on youtube, saw every one doing it, found this kid around my age 15 who did it lost loads of weight I started it lost weight in like 1 and a half months and now have a six pack, honestly that is the only one I belive P90X does acturally work I just did the ab ripper x twice a day for a month and I got my six pack.

Not trying to get you to start it or out just saying what happend to me lol

yeah, I totally get your point, that's why I'm on here a lot for a few months and then I take a break for a year or so, and I usually try to stick to the weightlifting questions.
The way I see it about 1 in 10 people on here will take my advice, meaning 9 out of 10 answers I write are a waste of my time, considering that I think it's worth it for the 1 person I help.

The reason is effort, losing weight is hard, I know. People are always looking for the quick easy fix, which is why the pills are so popular even tho they don't work. But that's the beauty of exercise and weightlifting, you get out of them what you put into them, if you can't sweat and bleed for this then you don't deserve it.

I think the worst is this one I answered last night.
How much weight can I lose eating only one banana and some carrots every day?
THE BEST ANSWER WILL BE THE TRUTH- I don't want to hear the lies about how thats bad for me and I'll slow down my metabolism blah...
lol

I feel your pain LOL. There are the constant how to get a flat stomach, how to lose weight and other how to do this and how to do that. They are the constant annoying questions that it seems like almost everyone asks. I answer a lot in the pregnancy section too and the common question there is Am I pregnant as if we are virtual pregnancy tests. In the fitness section I think that we are their virtual instant weight loss solution. If they ask the question they magically lose weight LOL.
