Gargle salt water! Drink hot tea (or if you don't like tea hot chocolate or coffee (decaff so you can rest!)).

Take a hot steamy shower.

make some tea ( i usually use green tea)

and when your done making it, while its hot,

put a little juice of lemon, some honey. Also something i Love doing and works Every time, add a little bit of powdered ginger.

ginger helps with the thyroid glan, in the throat.

or you can put the powdered ginger on the roof of your mouth, this might taste funky though lol im the only person that seems to like doing it lol

also, apple juice sometimes helps me.

but you pretty much a safe bet if you use ginger, lemon, and honey.

:) hope i helped!

Herbal Therapy:
Try gargling with golden seal tea, says Varro E. Tyler, Ph.D., professor of pharmacognosy at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana. To make the tea, Dr. Tyler says to pour boiling water over one or two teaspoons of the dried herb, which you can buy in most health food stores. Steep for ten minutes, strain to remove the herb and cool before using as a mouthwash, he says.

Sage is another choices for a sore throat, according to Dr. Tyler. He says to chop two teaspoons of fresh leaves (available in most health food stores), then pour boiling water over them and steep for ten minutes. Strain to remove the leaves and cool before using as a mouthwash, he says.

Dr. Tyler suggests that you repeat the gargles as necessary for a maximum of two to three days.

Some waters and teas for a sore throat can have lots of sugar or are not effective in relieving the pain.I am all for natural remedies because they work and they are safer on the body. Honey/lemon water is great for pain relief from a sore throat. It does not cure the sore throat, but it helps with the pain. Heat a cup of water.. Juice one lemon into the water and add a teaspoon of honey. Drink it down quick! For something a little more strong, juice three lemons into a glass then stir in a tablespoon of honey. Swallow one teaspoon every three to four hours to soothe throat irritation. Ginger can help with irritation from a sore throat. Clean and slice a fresh ginger root and steep in boiling water for 15 to 20 minutes. Drink a cup and if you dont like the taste, try a tea bag. I hope you feel better soon! Take care!
