Do You Think Swine Flu is Caused by Genetically Modified Food?

Postby NebulaProphet018 on Sat Oct 24, 2009 5:07 pm

No. Swine flu is not from genetically modified food.

It is an infection from the virus Human Influenza virus B. This virus has 3 main categories: 1 for humans, one for birds and one for pigs. In this case (and previous pandemics the world has seen eg. 1918-1919) the virus that normally infects animals had a change in its genetic material which meant it can now infect humans.

It is transmitted 'randomly' to people because some are more at risk of getting it (risk factors include pregnancy, immunocompromised, etc.).

hahaha, no.

Genetically altered food would actually DECREASE the risk of spreading sickness.

As an aspiring genetic engineer, let me tell you right now: Genetically altering foods makes them twice as nutricous, twice as good, they grow faster and have a longer shelf life- all without using any chemicals or hormone injections. Genetically alteres food is just as natual as food grown the hippie way(no offense to hippies, I like you guys, too)
