Do you think it's right for a person to get a dog?

Do you think it's right for a person to get a dog, If they live in a rental? And how do you feel about people who have dogs, and re home them when they move to a place that will not allow dogs? (Instead of finding a home that allows dogs.)

I have a friend that has done this and i feel it is wrong. She made a commitment to the dog. She acts like her dog is disposable now.

i rent a home and have several dogs, my landloard has NO problem what so ever with them being here. If some day i do decide to move i would find something that allows dogs. Its not right to just give a dog up because your too lazy to find the right home for all of you to share.

its kind of like living in an apartment building that doesn't allow kids. all of a sudden you get pregnant and have a baby...would you give your child away just so you could have the home YOU want. some ppl are so REDICULOUS!

Well, no one knows what the future will bring.........her intentions were good when she adopted the dog.....but she should have found another rental that allows dogs. I would live in the woods with my dog if I couldn't find a rental that would take her too.

Most of us at some point in our lives show our true colors. Your friend has come to this point and shown a real flaw in her character. Pet ownership ranks just below parenthood in terms of a lifetime commitment to ensure safety and well-being. When that responsibility means so little that it has no influence in choosing a home, it demonstrates a very shallow, selfish, immature nature that isn't limited just to her pet, but everything in life.
There are times when difficulties in life mean making necessary, painful decisions concerning pets, but choosing a no-pets rental doesn't qualify.
You can find better friends, I'm sure.

Here is a priceless gem from the internet.
Perhaps you could pass it on to your friend.

Great News for Pet Owners in West Michigan!

After an exhaustive effort, I now have research to prove that you can take pets with you when moving!

Yes, it?s true, and has been verified by many outside sources in the know. This includes:

*Moves to neighboring states
*Moves across country
*Moves within Michigan
*Moves within the city that you currently reside.

It turns out that in every city they having housing that allows pets. So, the best course of action would be if you(the pet owner) sought out one of these housing options(that allow pets) instead of inquiring on housing that does not allow pets(since you have a pet). I know, it seems complicated so let me use an analogy.

Example: If you are a smoker and want to rent a hotel room, you will want to book a ?SMOKING ROOM? Now, if you call about a ?NON SMOKING? room, you will not be able to smoke in said room. Which is bad, as you are a smoker, and enjoy smoking.

See how that works! Simple!

Also, while my research is not entirely complete, there is strong evidence that suggests you do
NOT need to give up pets either prior to or proceeding the birth of any of your children. You can have pets and kids. Seriously, it?s true?look it up. They(your children) might even learn some traits such as compassion, responsibility, and accountability(I know big words, look them up) if they(your children) are raised in a house with pets(the ones you committed to prior to the children)!

I thought my findings were just too good to keep to myself. So, pass them on to any pet owners you know!

Its okay to have a dog if you rent, just check with the landlord first before renting or getting the dog. If he/she doesn't allow pets, there's nothing you can do but find a place that will. It's the landlords loss anyway.

I can't stand the morons who want to rent out a 2 bedroom house for 500 a month PLUS a deposit of 500. That deposit is supposed to cover ANY damages done to that place, human or animal...

on the flip side, I can't stand the morons who want pets and think they can take on the responsibility to just let it crap all over the house and tear things up. Thats why landlords need to do references and background checks as well. Then if the tenant is still trashing the place, evict them and find a more responsible tenant.

I really think the "NO PETS" thing should be called pet owner discrimination because that's what it is.

If I had to rent, I'd make damn sure the place allowed pets. I made that commitment to them and I will not break it.. If I had kids I wouldn't give them up for a place, and I sure as hell won't do it to my pets.

I bet she'd feel awful if you just up and moved and stopped talking to her.. Say your phone service didn't allow long distance or whatever. See if HER feelings would be hurt, and if she'd feel alone and abandoned like her dog.

I do not have a problem with someone getting a dog /pet if they rent their homes. I do have a problem with people who act like your friend does. And refuse to except the full life time commitment they made to the dog when they got them. And we wonder why we have issues with unwanted dogs. These are the same type of people who will most likely leave there dogs behind and neglect them. People need to understand that a dog/pet when you get them you commit yourself to them for their life time. You promise the animal at that time when you get them that you will always be there, care, love them for life not to it becomes a inconvenience into your life. More people need to think long term, what breed, exactly what it details, and means of how they will provide all the animals needs, way before they get the animal. Just cus its cute is no reason why they should get them.
Animals are not old pieces of furniture. They are living creatures who feel emotions just like you!
