Do you feel bad when you make your kids cry?

Like seriously, my mom has no feelings at all. She'll yell at me about something, and than she'll see that I'm about to cry, but she just keeps yelling at me. I don't even think that she feels sorry for me, that's just wrong. Yeah ok I might of deserved to be yelled at, but jeez when my eyes start to get watery, she should know to stop yelling. She has like no feelings towards me, it's like she purposely wants to make me cry. Are you people the same? Do you have feelings about your kids or not?

Oh yes, i definitely feel bad...Sometimes i go and cry myself when i yell at my kids, i always reassure them in about 5-10 minutes that i love them and we hug always afterwards!

A few tears never hurt anyone. Some people especially teen females can turn them on and off like tap water. I'm sure your mom loves you but just because you are going to cry doesn't mean she is through saying everything she needs to say to you.

I am sure that it does bother her to see you cry. As a mother, I do not enjoy making my children cry but I cannot ignore things that they have done that require discipline. It is part of the job description. You do realize that when she is yelling at you for the wrong things you have done it is because she loves and cares about you. You say that she has no feelings towards you, but if she didn't care, she would just ignore you and let you do whatever you wanted to do. You may or may not find out someday that it is not easy on this side of the fence either... so cut your mom some slack and stop trying to make her feel guilty for correcting you by turning on the waterworks!

Of course I feel bad! And even sometimes afterwards I realize that I didn't have to take it as far as I did...s0o, I say "I'm sorry" and explain that I overreacted. I want my daughter to think about her own behavior and if she has to, apologize for it to someone else. I know some people NEVER say I'm sorry (like they are never wrong or something). I know I am doing a good job with her when she comes to the conclusion on her own that she needs to say I'm sorry, and re-think her behavior.

some parents do unfortunatly, mine did, she almost seemed to take pleasure out of hurting us or seeing us affected y her hideous screaming.., but it is a little bit different than a 'normal' situation because she is narcassistic, no empathy and only care about her self...etc etc..
would be lovely to know what a real mother is like and if they actually cared if your upset .. :)

Your mom apparently has an emotional problem and, no, it's not common among parents.

Speaking personally, it upsets me when any kids cry, whatever the reason. We mammals are supposed to be wired to be affected by any children crying. It's a species survival trait. I wonder about those morons on home video programs who think it's hilarious to make little kids cry and scream in terror. Sick bastards, all of them.

The next time you have doctor's appointment, tell the doctor what your mom's behavior is like.

When my children behave badly and I reprimand them for it, sometimes they cry. Lots of times when they cry, it's to get out of the punishment, so in a way, no, I don't feel bad when they cry for that reason. If I've done something to truly hurt their feelings, I feel bad, of course I do, but if they're using tears to manipulate me into not punishing them, no, I don't feel bad one bit.
