You problem is that you do not yet understand that YOU are in control of the diabetes. Therefore, YOU are upset becasue you "can't eat like everyone else".

NO -- you CAN"T eat like everyone else. You ARE diabetic, and that means you MUST take STRICT control of your diet -- NO SUGARS (colas, sport drinks, energy drinks, canned fruit juices, candies, cookies, cakes, pudding, pies, ice cream). You must REDUCE starches (breads, pastas, rice, corn. potatoes. You must INCREASE FIBERS (green leafy vegetables (salads) Cheerios, and whole grain breads)

You MUST get MORE exercise. Work your self up to a point that you are walking two miles A DAY.

You MUST folow doctors orders about medications, diet, and exercise.

Your blood sugars are out of control because you are NOT controlling your diet. It seems that you EXPECT to be able to "eat like everyone else" BUT YOU CAN NOT!. Until you gain the self-discipline to control your diet and exercies, you will NOT be able to get your blood sugars under control.

Your doctor should be able to refer you to a local Diabetes Support Group. If he cannot, call the localhospital and ask for their Diabetology or Endocrinology section. Most hospital have or know of diabetes support groups. If not, then maybe it is time that YOU start one!

YOU must understand that YOU must control the diabetes. You canNOT let IT CONTROL YOU.

Follow doctors orders exactly. CONTROL your diet. get more exrcies. Lose weight.

YOU must control the disease, and not let the disease control you.

If your friends don;t understand or make fun of you -- FIND NEW FRIENDS. People like that are NOT friends. Friends are supportive and sympathetic of each other during times of needs. "Friends" that make fun of you or try to make you do things you know you shouldn't are actually ENEMIES, NOT FRIENDS!

Feeling depressed is common for diabetics, especially those recently diagnosed and those who are having difficulty getting control. Don't beat yourself up over it. I've been there :-)

http://community.diabetes.org/n/forumIndex.aspx?webtag=adaindex
this is a link to the american diabetes associations message boards. Pick one suitable to you (type 1 or 2, teen or adult). They are very active and far better monitored for correct diabetes information than you will get here on Y!A,

If you live in a big enough town, you can also check around for a local diabetes support group. They can certainly understand what it's like to be diabetic, and you will learn you are not as restricted in living as it seems. I just enjoyed having M&Ms with my daughter, something I once thought I could never do, but I can (not the whole bag - but that isn't good for anybody anyway LOL).

If the depression continues to be a problem, you may want to speak to your doctor about it. Few people who don't have depression realize that isn't cured by thinking happy thoughts. If your brain chemistry is off, it needs to be medicated just like any other illness. I've been there, too.

I wish all of your respondents were positive. I have been a diabetic for many years and it is not easy. I have also struggled with depression most of that time. What happens is when your blood sugars are unbalanced it affects you mentally. Then you?re depressed & you?re less likely to take care of yourself. It becomes a terrible cycle and so difficult to escape. Maybe you are fortunate enough to have a good doctor who can suggest a support group. There were some great sites suggested above where to can find support. None of this medical stuff is your fault, you didn?t ask for it. Just like a victim of a blindside car accident, life came & knocked the crap out of you. Now you have to put your big girl panties on and deal with it. Know you?re not alone, girl.

Thousands of people around the world have diabetes, so you are definitely not alone.

The best thing you can do for yourself is educate yourself about the disease.

There are many things you can do for yourself to help you control your blood sugar levels like exercise on a regular basis, understand how foods will affect you, medication, and natural supplements to help fill in the nutritional gaps.

Exercise helps by improving your body's insulin use, burns excess body fat and calories which will improve your body's insulin sensitivity and helps reduce stress, promotes relaxation and releases tension and anxiety.

Some studies have shown that eating just one serving of green leafy vegetables or three to five servings of fruit a day can reduce the risk of type 2 diabetes.

Medications which you are already taking can help and perhaps you should try adding some natural supplements to fill in the nutritional gaps. Alpha Lipoic Acid, B-Complex and Chromium are a few, but the list could go on instead I will leave you with the webpage.

Here are the webpages for some more information on diabetes.

Take care and try repeating to yourself when you feel down five to ten things that you are thankful for to turn your mood around.

Good luck to you.
