can you build muscle while your overweight then loose the weight later?

i started lifting weights and i started seeing major results. i am not too fat but i'm still a little chubby. someone told me that i have to remove fat from my body then i can start body building if i want to see the profile. should i do what he told me or can i loose the weight later? when i lift weights i get much stronger since i'm big.

he also told me that after dieting and exercise i am allowed gain weight when i start building muscle.

that person was totally wrong in order to build muscle you need fat.

Loose weight as well. You would be more satisfied when you see your body without much fat. Crunches REALLY help.

You need to gain muscle in order to lose fat. When we build up muscle it starts to eat away at the fat we have, so you cannot lose the weight then gain muscle, as that would be doing it in reverse... and it will take you a long time to lose weight without weight training.

So keep up the weight training, now that you're seeing physical results with your muscles soon you'll notice the weight drop off.

you can build the muscle first yeah. the muscle is there it's just hidden by the extra fat. strongness has nothing to do with how fat you are.

lifting weights will help you lose pounds. So do not listen to them. Obviously cardio and dieting is best to lose weight, but it is possible to lose weight while gaining muscle.

KEEP LIFTING WEIGHTS! Its a great thing to do for exercise.

When you lift you build muscle which in turn helps you burn more fat. (10 pounds of muscle for instance can make you burn something like an extra 500 calories/day in your sleep) Keep lifting, if you can.... also throw some cardio in with it!

:) :) :) :) Building up your muscle is the quickest way to burn fat. Dude, just keep lifting, run, dance, all kinds of good stuff.
